Dext — formerly known as Receipt Bank — is the paperless bookkeeping tool that extracts data from your receipts and invoices and pushes it straight into your accounting software. It removes the need to keep boxes of paper and saves hours of manual data entry.

What is Dext?

Dext is a cloud-based data capture tool. You photograph or email your receipts and invoices, and Dext reads the supplier, date, amount and tax details automatically, then publishes them to your accounting system. The product was called Receipt Bank until it rebranded to Dext in 2021, so you may still hear both names.

How it works

  1. Snap a photo of a receipt or forward an invoice by email.
  2. Dext extracts the key data and matches it to a category and supplier.
  3. You review and approve it in the app.
  4. The transaction is published directly into your accounting software.

Benefits for your business

  • Fully paperless — no more shoeboxes or scanning.
  • Documents stored securely in the cloud for the required six years.
  • Compliant with Revenue VAT rules, with the original document always available.
  • Faster, more accurate bookkeeping with less manual data entry.
  • Works alongside an invoice approval workflow for better control.

Works with Xero

Dext integrates seamlessly with Xero, so your bookkeeping is always up to date and your accountant can see the same live numbers as you. This is the combination we set up for most of our clients who want paperless bookkeeping.

Frequently asked questions

Is Receipt Bank now called Dext?

Does Dext work with Xero?

Yes — Dext integrates directly with Xero, publishing approved transactions automatically.

Is Dext compliant with Revenue rules?

Yes. The original receipts and invoices are stored and available for the required six years, so it meets Irish VAT record-keeping requirements.

Can I stop keeping paper receipts?
